Alpha Key Distribution Update

Hello everyone,

We’d like to update you on the Steam key issue. Steam has reached back to us and we are currently working on a solution with them. However, since it has been a week since the Alpha launch, we decided to look for another solution to distribute the Alpha build to you.

We will upload the Coral Island Alpha build to itch.io for the remaining players who haven’t got the Alpha Steam keys yet, and push patches on both itch.io and Steam. There is no difference in either build. Players should experience the same thing and receive the same patches at around the same time.

Starting today, we will send the itch.io keys to the email address linked to your order. The sender’s address will be [email protected] with the email title “New Digital Content for Coral Island.” Additionally, you can log in to Backerkit with your Kickstarter account, click on Coral Island, and click on Digital Downloads to view your itch.io key.

Here are the steps on how to download it:

• Open the link that we’ve sent to you (make sure to create itch.io account as well)
• Download the itch app here (https://itch.io/app) 
• Click on Library  → Owned items → Coral Island Alpha → Install
   

We also closed our Backerkit Pre-order store and are working on having it up again sometimes. At this moment, we can’t promise a date just yet.

In the meantime, our focus is on making sure the Alpha build is stable, pushing patches, and keeping the pipeline going.

Where is my Alpha Key?

Hello Farmers,

We have received a lot of reports and complaints that some backers haven’t got their keys yet.

To be transparent with you, the team didn't expect the high demand for the Alpha keys and might have miscalculated the extra keys that we should have provided in advance for the new backers.

Although we planned to send the Alpha keys to priority backers first, we have no control over who gets the Alpha keys first as Backerkit sent it, and keys were not sent by the order that we initially thought.

We’re sorry about this and have submitted a request on July 31st to Steam to generate extra keys to be distributed. We will keep the community updated as soon as possible.

(For new backers, we will have to delay locking & charging your order because of this issue. We simply want to make sure you don’t get charged until we have the keys to send. Your keys will only be sent after we have done both procedures. If your order has been locked and charged, the codes will be sent automatically as soon as it’s available.)

Rest assured that we will keep following up with this matter and make sure that all backers will get the Alpha keys as soon as possible.

Coral Island Alpha Release Announcement

Hello Coral Islanders,

The Alpha build is now ready to be tested!

Alpha will be launched today, July 31st, 6 PM PDT/ August 1st, 8 AM GMT+7.

Please refer to our previous post for more details about Alpha keys distribution and other information.

We want to reiterate that this Alpha 0.01 will be under NDA and that players cannot share any information about the game in any way. We appreciate your kind understanding and cooperation in this matter.

Additionally, we want to remind you that this Alpha 0.01 build is an early build meant for playtesting, so expect bugs, issues, and crashes. You might have to start the game from the beginning multiple times. However, we will try to fix the issue and keep the build stable.

If you have any bug reports, please let us know! Kindly check our bug report Discord channel (Alpha Channels → #alpha-bug-report) and follow the instructions listed there.

About the Alpha

What is Alpha?

The Alpha is an early version of the game available for testing purposes only. The game is NOT ready for public release yet and may contain bugs, errors, and defects. Some of the issues that we can think of are, the save file might get corrupted, and you might have to restart and play the game from the very beginning multiple times. Please keep in mind that the game is still in development.

So bugs, huh? Then why release the Alpha?

The main objective of this Alpha is to playtest the game, and gather feedback to help improve the game. We need your help on this. Feedback, bug reports, suggestions, anything that we can use to improve Coral Island.

How do I report bugs?

There will be two ways for you to report bugs:

• Submit the report in-game, by pressing Escape menu → click Feedback
• Sending it to our bug report Discord channel. (Alpha Channels → #alpha-bug-report)

Who can play the Alpha?

Alpha playtest is only available for Alpha Farmer Pack ($30) backers and above, as well as some selected registrants in our previous Discord giveaway.

If you backed under $30 and want to play Alpha, please visit our Backerkit store to pre-order! (PC/Steam only)

When will the Alpha keys be sent?

Alpha Steam keys will be sent in batches on the day the Alpha starts, to be exact, on July 31st, 6 PM PDT / August 1st, 8 AM GMT+7.

The process might take time due to the high number of players, so please wait for at least 12 hours. If you still haven’t received your key by then, email us at [email protected].

Where will the Alpha keys be sent?

The keys will be sent to the email address that is linked to your order. The sender’s address will be [email protected] with the email title as “New Digital Content for Coral Island”.

Additionally, you can log in to Backerkit with your Kickstarter account, click on Coral Island, and click on Digital Downloads to view your Steam key code.

How do I use the Alpha keys?

You can activate the Steam key to add Coral Island to your Steam library. From there, you can install the game and start playing.

How long will the Alpha be?

Alpha will start on July 31st at 6 PM PDT / August 1 at 8 AM GMT+7 and last until around Q4 2021. For the exact date, please wait for our future updates.

About Non-Disclosure Agreement

Before playing the Alpha, please keep in mind that this Alpha playtest will be under Non-Disclosure Agreement. (You can opt-out of the NDA by NOT installing or playing the Alpha.)

What does it mean?
Simple! Under the NDA, you agree not to share, publish, disclose, distribute, transmit, post, or make available, directly or indirectly,  Confidential Information about Coral Island Alpha playtest to any third party or public audience until we publicly release the product or content. Confidential Information includes screenshots of the game, video of gameplay from the game, or any other form of information sharing, such as discussing the game or allowing others to watch you play the game or leave the game running unattended. However, you may disclose the existence of the Alpha and that you are a member of the Alpha playtest.

In the case of Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) breach by sharing Alpha content with non-Alpha players, we reserve the right to all actions available to us under the law, such as revoking your Alpha Access key(s), denying your access to the game, and possible legal action.

If you see someone breaking the NDA, kindly contact us at [email protected] with proof of a violation and we will investigate it. We really appreciate your cooperation!

Although you cannot share the initial Alpha release, rest assured you'll be able to stream later at some point during Alpha, closer to Early Access. We will keep you updated with the confirmed time after implementing Alpha feedback to the game.

For this month’s developer update, we will share more details of the upcoming Alpha.

Alpha Content

To start, we want to be transparent and share with you all that Alpha content for 0.01 will be a bit different from what we originally planned. We are a bit behind in some areas and ahead in others. The worsening pandemic in Indonesia has made it an incredibly challenging time for production. In the past month, several of our team members became infected with Covid; as of this update, a couple more are out sick because of it.

It’s not all bad news, though. Despite all this, Alpha will still release as scheduled on July 31st. Below you will find a revised breakdown of what you can expect from the initial Alpha 0.01 release:

Recap

To summarize the highlights of what you will be able to do during Alpha 0.01:

• Play the game in English (the only available language for now!)
• Create your character with basic customization (limited body types, hairstyles, and outfits)
• Play through the Spring Season (the season will be looped)
• Experience basic weather (Sunny, Rainy, Windy)
• Decorate your house with basic furniture
• Plant 12 Spring Crops
• Enter the Blacksmith, Carpenter, Museum, Lab, & Charles’ House.
• Upgrade your tools & seeds
• Craft basic items
• Increase NPCs’ hearts to 2 (unlock more dialogue)
• Dive the North, South, West, and East maps @ 10m depth
• Mine 25 levels in the Earth Gate
• Obtain Skills (Tier 1 only)
• Do basic Quests
• Donate basic items to the Museum
   

Things that didn’t make it for Alpha 0.01:

• Ranching system (no chicken army)
• Purchasing farm building
• Heart event cutscenes
• Some introduction cutscenes
• Basic onboarding
   

In addition, here are ten things that you should do on Alpha 0.01!

• Be mentally and physically prepared to start over your game, many many times.
• Stumble upon surprising and unexpected bugs (like noodle hands!)
• Report the bugs to us to be fixed
• Waiting patiently while we do maintenance for the fixes
• Sending us your feedback and suggestions for us to improve
• Finding out our hidden Easter Egg!
• Explore the beautiful island and meet its wonderful residents
• Listening to some beautiful OST music while you’re playing
• Share the experience with fellow Alpha players
• Last but not least, and most importantly - have fun!

For Kickstarter Pledges & Backerkit Pre-Orders, we will send the Alpha key code in batches to the email address that is linked to your order on July 31st, 6 PM PDT / 8 AM GMT+7.
